I have a question regarding the use of STM32F4 devices in IEC 61508 SIL2/SIL3 applications. The STM32 Safety Library documentation indicates that STM32 devices can be used in SIL2/SIL3 applications. However, I could not find an explicit Hardware Systematic Capability (SC) claim for devices such as the STM32F415. Does STM32 claim SC2 or SC3 for the STM32F4 family in accordance with IEC 61508? If not, how is the use of these devices in SIL2/SIL3 applications justified from a systematic capability perspective? I would appreciate any clarification you can provide on how the systematic capability of STM32 devices is addressed within the IEC 61508-2 framework.

Hello @Him_ ,
this is a security section, while your question is about safety. Security and safety are two different topics, often in contradiction.
I'm not really a safety expert, so please try looking here: STM32F4 Series safety manual - User manual
Or try posting the question to correct forums section.

P.S. I found a local safety expert. The STM32 HW as standalone is never safety evaluated and certified. We do not claim the HW being safe as the final product will always need to include safety SW to meet the requirements.

I found that ST provides an FMEDA for its STM32 MCUs. How can I obtain the FMEDA documentation along with the X-CUBE-STL package?

Hello @Him_ ,
the FMEDA and the SIL package of SW and documentation is not public. The company/institution you are working with needs to contact ST sales office to sign an NDA.
