Guidance for Interfacing 7" 1024×600 LCD with STM32H743ZI

Kannika
Associate II

Hi,

We are planning to use STM32H743ZI for our project.

Our requirement is to interface a 7-inch LCD touch display with 1024x600 resolution using a 24-bit RGB interface (RGB888) through LTDC.

Can STM32H743ZI reliably support this display resolution? Also, what frame rate can realistically be achieved with this configuration?

Are there any important hardware or performance considerations before selecting this MCU?

Any suggestions or reference designs would be helpful.

Thanks.

Hello @Kannika and welcome to the ST community;

AN4861 "Introduction to LCD-TFT display controller (LTDC) for STM32 MCUs"

https://www.st.com/en/partner-products-and-services/riverdi-stm32-displays.html

Using Riverdi board:

https://riverdi.com/fr/product/7-inch-lcd-display-stm32h7-frame-rvt70hssfwn00?srsltid=AfmBOor6JTenPNM1U1ScMpNVHtrKVtVqVj-XNgeCxwg_m1t2NYd8tHEm

So yes it can interface 7" 1024×600 LCD with STM32H743ZI.

PS1: STM32H755 have the same LCD-TFT peripheral.

PS2: STM32H743ZI is a 144 package check if all LTDC signals are available on that package.

Riverdi (among others) have a number of displays - up to 12.1" - based on H7:

https://riverdi.com/knowledge-base/stm32-getting-started

ST have eval boards with 5/5.7" displays:

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Most important is SDRAM here ... And too DSI ?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Could you please share the hardware design documents for the RVT70HSSFWN00 module, especially the schematics and any available reference design files?

It would be very helpful for understanding the LCD interface implementation and overall hardware architecture.

You'd have to go to Riverdi for that - it's their product:

That's not a ST design but rather a partner of ST:

You need to check the Riverdi site https://riverdi.com.
