Did the L298HN ever have leads that were the same 5.28mm length ? The data sheet only shows one option where lead L6 is 2.38mm, and the other lead L5 is 5.28.

I have checked it again: the L298HN has had exactly this pin configuration since at least the year 2000, i.e. the inner pins are 2.38mm from the bottom edge of the device, the outer pins 5.28mm.
