When we are using the external clock source configuration, what is the maximum frequency usable for the input pin?

As explained in the datasheet, for most of all the ST7, maximum frequency for an external clock is 16MHz (to apply on OSC1 while OSC2 is grounded) in order to give 8MHz as Fcpu.
