VL6180X supply voltage

The VL6180X's typical supply voltage is listed as 2.8V. Is there any problem with operating it at 3.3V which is less than the 3.6V absolute maximum?

The maximum functional operational voltage is 3.0V. Running the device at higher voltage is not suggested. It will not operate according to the specified operation parameters. The absolute maximum value for the supply voltage indicates the limit at which supplying a voltage above that limit (3.6V) may cause damage to the part.
