VL53L9CX - documentation & library availability

thomasboutant

Hello,

We have been waiting for the VL53L9CX for a while and I noticed that a few weeks ago an evaluation board was finally out.

I bet the community is very happy about this yet there is almost no documentation, I have not seen a dedicated library either.

When are we getting the specifications of the sensor (just like we have for the predecessors) ? I am curious to know if the accuracy and precision is better than with the VL53L8CX.
Also, can we simply use it with the VL53L8CX library, with extended capabilities that we can tune ourselves ? Or will it be a dedicated library, when ?

Concerning the sensor's capabilities; if a 4*4 or 8*8 mode is sufficient for our need, can we use this new sensor like that (with better performance compared to 8CX) or is this sensor just tailored for different purposes ?

Finally, regarding the price, I have seen a price of 54 euro per unit (down to 44 euros for 25 + units). Will the price go down significantly when fully in production or is this sensor not made to be used in wearables anymore (It is a bigger form factor I know).

Looking forward to read your answers.
Thank you,
Thomas
