Connecting STM32 wireless products series to STM32CubeMonitor-RF

Introduction

This guide explains the steps to connect STM32WB, STM32WBA, or STM32WB0 series devices to the STM32CubeMonitor-RF tool. STM32CubeMonitor-RF is a software utility designed to monitor and analyze wireless communication, particularly Bluetooth® LE (BLE). Follow the instructions below to upload the required firmware and transparent mode code, and establish a reliable Bluetooth® LE connection for debugging and development purposes.

1. Connecting to STM32CubeMonitor-RF

1.1 Using the STM32WB series

Upload the BLE_Stack_full_extended_fw.bin file specific to your microcontroller unit (MCU). Ensure the latest versions of both the STM32WB firmware upgrade service (FUS) and STM32CubeProgrammer are used.
Upload the transparent mode code. ST provides examples in the STM32CubeWB projects. Perform this step either after compilation (recommended) or by using the .bin file with STM32CubeProgrammer.
Click the [Start Wireless Stack] button in STM32CubeProgrammer.
Open STM32CubeMonitor-RF and connect in BLE mode.
Select the correct COM port and baud rate, then click [Connect].

1.2 Using the STM32WBA series

Upload the transparent mode code. ST provides examples in the STM32CubeWBA projects. Perform this step either after compilation (recommended) or by using the .bin file with STM32CubeProgrammer.
Open STM32CubeMonitor-RF and connect in BLE mode.
Select the correct COM port and baud rate, then click [Connect].

1.3 Using the STM32WB0 series

Upload the transparent mode code. ST provides examples in the STM32CubeWB0 projects. Perform this step either after compilation (recommended) or by using the .bin file with STM32CubeProgrammer.
Open STM32CubeMonitor-RF and connect in BLE mode.
Select the correct COM port and baud rate, then click Connect.

Note: If required, reset the device before clicking the [Connect] button in STM32CubeMonitor-RF.
