STUSB4531 PPS SUPPORT

KPTD

Hi all,

I was super exited to test the new STUSB4531 IC on the EVAL-SCS006V1.

The PPS support of the chip is the main reason to pass over from the STUSB4500. I have done a lot of test with 100W PPS enabled USB-C supply but without luck. i did not manage to get it working. Attached is a screenshot of an attempt to trigger 18V via different method:

18V Fixed PDO: This was obviously not going to work as 18v is not a fixed PDO.

18V APDO: This also was not supposed to work because the source's PDO does not fall into this range

PPS: a 16V-18V was asked and should have been asked first de to PPS_PRIORITY set to 1

Things to note:

1- All three options have also been tested individually without success

2- Multiple current from 1.5A to 5A have been tested

3- Source is offering  from 3.3V-21V@5A in PPS as you can see in the capture (also on the product label)

4- A power reset (USB unplug/plug has been done between every test)

5- ABOVE_5V flag has been tested on/off and behave as expected.

6- Multiple PDP have been tested. Over, under and equal to the asked power

What am I missing? Has anyone been able to successfully obtain a PPS

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Could you please provide the nvm file used ?

I need to ensure that:

  • PPS First is selected
  • PPS voltage selection is set to either
    • 'max voltage'
    • 'sel voltage' and 'VSEL VAR = 18.00'

Thanks

Nathalie
