TLO64 driving IL300

Dear Forum members,

In one  of my application, I need to drive photo LED of IL300 through TLO64. But it is not working. If I just replace TLO64 with TLO74, everything works proper. My initial guess was that TLO64 might not be supplying sufficient current. But looking at datasheet, I didn't find any major deviation in output current graph of both these IC's. Am I  missing something?

Hello,

The TL074 and TL064 op-amps do not have exactly the same output capabilities.

Actually, the TL074 is able to drive more current. In the figure below, you can find a comparison between typical parts of TL064 and TL074.

In addition, thanks to its higher supply current, the TL074 has a bigger GBP, bigger SR and a lower noise.

    - GBP : 4MHz  (1MHz for the TL064)

    - SR : 16V/µs (3.5V/µs for the TL064)

Thus, the TL074 will help you in your application by driving more current, moreover, you could also use it with faster input signals.

Regards,

Sylvain
